Between the 18th and 20th of November 2025 members of the VeriFish consortium will gather in Haarlem, the Netherlands. This will be the forth meeting the consortium will have within the project. Over two full days, the consortium will review progress made so far, and align on next steps. The group will work on advancoing the verifiable indicator framework, outreach prototypes, and European good practice recommendations. The team will also focus its activity on moving forward with the prototype VeriFish web app. Project management, and exploitation planning, will complete the agenda.
VeriFish is building an accessible framework of verifiable sustainability indicators which draws on trusted EU and global data sources. The aim is clearer, more consistent communication about sustainable seafood to support consumers, industry, and policy-makers. The project guideline also recommends how to present and visualise indicators by seafood type. The guide wil help to prepare tailor messages and visuals for specific audiences.

On November 20, the consortium will travel to IJmuiden to host a dedicated working lunch during the Catch Welfare Platform Conference. The session will engage producers, retailers, researchers, and other value-chain actors. It will gather feedback, and test preliminary outputs from the VeriFish indicator framework. This hands-on exchange will ensure the tools are practical, credible, and ready for broader piloting.

Across the three days, the agenda underscores VeriFish’s dual focus: robust, data-driven methods (indicator integration, scoring, validation), and clear communication (prototype media products, community engagement, events). By combining technical rigor with user-centred design, the project aims to strengthen confidence in sustainability claims, support responsible operators, and make informed seafood choices easier for consumers.
